Rename device

Vector artwork, numbered rack units, equipment tags, schedule, and drawing title block. Generic planning drawing—not a fabrication or installation approval.

1. Rack row layout arranges selected racks and shared vertical managers on one landscape elevation. Set each manager’s width/height and verify rack drawing widths. Map existing facing rack-side managers to a single row manager to avoid double-counting. Save the row, then choose Rack row in Export drawing.
2. Use the Rack selector to switch racks, or Add rack to start another. Project & templates manages shared project details, rack copies and reusable templates. Templates always create a new rack; they never overwrite the current one.
3. Set the rack type, height and identifier under Properties. Choose an empty rack or edit the example.
4. Drag equipment artwork onto the rack. A green preview is valid; red indicates an overlap or boundary problem. Side accessories go in the narrow side zones.
5. Alternatively, use + Add to place in a free slot. Select an item, edit its lowest-numbered occupied U, and apply. For top-down numbering, this is the top occupied U.
6. Use Fit rack for an overview, Edit size for readable equipment, or Expand workspace for more room. Scroll inside the drawing for detail. On a phone, switch between Equipment, Elevation, and Properties.
7. Select equipment and choose Rename device in Properties to add a site-specific tag. Enable Labels to see tags on the elevation. Saved projects and schedules keep each device’s label.
8. Save a project file to reopen or transfer your editable layout. A convenience draft stays in this browser; it is not a cloud backup.
9. Export SVG or PNG for drawing software, or Print / Save PDF. Direct Visio stencil import and VSDX export are not included.

What this checks

Whole rack-unit placement, overlaps and remaining U space. A rack unit is 1.75 inches (44.45 mm); cabinet outer dimensions and usable mounting depth are separate. See Eaton’s rack basics.

Front view only. Cabinet doors are omitted for visibility. Zero-U accessories are schematic side representations, not verified mounting locations. Do not infer rear clearance or compatibility from this drawing.

Privacy & files

Your layout is processed in your browser, not uploaded. Browser drafts may be visible to other users of this browser profile. Use a project file for backup. Equipment notes are included in CSV/project files; the drawing sheet shows tags and project notes.

Keyboard: Tab to a device and press Enter to select it. Edit its U position in Properties. Ctrl/⌘ Z undoes; Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z redoes. Delete removes a focused device. Escape cancels a drag.

Load the example layout?

This replaces only the active rack’s layout. Other racks are unchanged. Save a project file first if you need a separate copy. You can also undo this change.
